Faye Jordan

Staff Specialist in Emergency and ED Director of Research - The Prince Charles Hospital

Professional Bio

Faye came to medicine through a rather circuitous route.  As a school leaver, she studied Speech Pathology, pursuing a career in this discipline for almost 20 years, and obtaining a PhD focused on the communication skills of children with acquired brain injury.  In her mid-thirties, seeking a “life change”, Faye commenced medical school.  Subsequently Faye has completed her RACP PEM, and her FACEM.  She works as a Staff Specialist in Emergency at TPCH, across both the adult and paediatric Emergency Departments and as the Director of Research – Emergency Department TPCH.  Her clinical interests are broad but include a special interest in adolescent mental health.  She is engaged with junior doctor development and education.  Faye also participated in a “medical mothers” project to write the book “Medicine Women” – an anthology of stories from 20 medical women across the world.  She also parents two adult daughters, one a surgical trainee and one a 3rd year medical student. Faye’s husband heads up a successful architectural firm, so life is full and oftentimes challenging.  Faye’s home no longer echoes with the sound of children, but rather with the rhythm of adults entering their later years, including her mother who is in 101 years old and still independent, but living with Faye and her husband.
